Valencia to Javea by train

Can you travel from Valencia to Javea by train?

There is no direct Valencia to Javea train because Javea, also written Xabia, has no railway station. The realistic rail-based route is to take a Renfe Cercanias train from Valencia Nord towards Gandia, then continue by bus, taxi or pre-booked transfer to Javea. This makes the journey possible without driving, but it is not a single-train trip.

For live railway times, check Renfe Cercanias Valencia. If you are considering a coastal rail alternative through Alicante and Denia, check TRAM d’Alacant, but for most Valencia departures this is a slower and less direct plan.

Route overview and realistic timing

By road, Valencia to Javea is roughly 110-125 km, depending on whether you start from Valencia Airport, a city hotel, the cruise port or a private address. A private vehicle normally takes about 1 h 25 min to 2 h, with longer times possible on summer weekends, Friday afternoons, holiday changeover days and around city exits.

The rail-based option usually means Valencia Nord to Gandia by train, then onward road travel to Javea. With waiting time, station changes and local transport, allow around 2.5-4 hours rather than planning around the train time only.

Route options compared

Option Typical use What to check
Train + bus/taxi Budget travellers with light luggage and flexible timing Renfe C-1 times, bus connections, last services, delays
Private transfer Families, groups, late arrivals, luggage-heavy trips Pickup address, passenger count, child seats, vehicle size
Taxi from station Simple last leg from Gandia if available Rank availability, luggage space, approximate fare
Coach/bus Travellers who prefer one cheaper public transport plan Seasonal schedules, changes, baggage rules
Rental car Visitors planning to explore coves and nearby towns Parking in Javea, insurance, late pickup, fuel policy

Who should choose the train route?

The train makes sense if you are starting near Valencia Nord, travelling with a small bag, and do not mind changing to a bus or taxi after Gandia. It can also suit solo travellers who value cost over door-to-door comfort. It is less convenient with children, large suitcases, sports equipment, reduced mobility needs, or a late arrival when onward buses may be limited.

  • Best by train: flexible daytime travellers with light luggage.
  • Best by transfer: families, groups of 4+, airport arrivals, early or late journeys.
  • Best by rental car: visitors staying outside Javea centre and planning day trips.

Pickup and drop-off details

For a private transfer, Transfer Valencia 24 can collect passengers from Valencia Airport arrivals, Valencia Nord, Joaquin Sorolla station, hotels, apartments, the cruise port or a private address. The driver meets you at the agreed place, helps with luggage and takes you directly to your hotel, villa, marina area or residential address in Javea.

If you travel by train, plan the final leg before departure. Gandia station is the usual rail endpoint from Valencia, but Javea is still a road journey away. Do not rely on finding a perfect connection without checking current bus times or arranging pickup in advance.

Luggage, children and accessibility

Train travel is manageable with one suitcase, but station transfers become awkward with several bags, strollers or beach equipment. Private minivans are more practical for families and groups because the vehicle can be selected for the passenger count and luggage volume. Child seats should be requested in advance with the child’s age or size, not left until pickup.

Wheelchair-accessible transport may be available by advance request, subject to vehicle availability and the exact boarding needs. For public transport, check station accessibility and bus access before buying tickets, especially if travelling with a wheelchair, walker or limited mobility.

What is included with a private transfer?

A booked transfer normally includes a private insured vehicle, professional driver, door-to-door routing, agreed pickup time, luggage assistance and direct travel without station changes. Wi-Fi and air conditioning may be available in the vehicle. Final pricing depends on the exact pickup point, destination in Javea, passenger count, luggage, child seats, time of travel and vehicle type.

Booking tips before you travel

  • Check Renfe on the day of travel for timetable changes or engineering works.
  • Allow extra time in summer, on weekends and around public holidays.
  • Keep your accommodation address in Javea ready, not only the town name.
  • Tell the transfer company about surfboards, bikes, wheelchairs or extra bags.
  • For airport pickups, share the flight number so timing can be adjusted more sensibly.

If you want the cheapest possible route and travel light, start with the train to Gandia and confirm the onward bus. If you want the least complicated journey, especially after a flight or with family luggage, book a Valencia to Javea private transfer and go door to door.
